Just a little update on the new forum

Hi everyone,

I have heard a bit of confusion about the new forum and just wanted to clear it up for you.

This blog here is temporary until the new forum is opened.

On the new forum you will set up a user name and password, and log on and then be able to start threads, post comments and attach photographs.

We are very far along with the new forum set up and will let you know as soon as it is available for use.

Not long now....stay tuned for further news.

  3. Thanks Coby...but there is just one person in my house doing this and that is me. LOL. The other part of the 'establishment group' I only know via our online community but I am forever grateful to TheMacOne and Chocolate Cookie for their amazing contribution and generosity. We really are a management team of 3 with lots of input from other forummers, which has been such an amazing help. It feels like such a collaboration and there has been so much support.

I think we have all done an amazing job to get to this stage so quickly. I think it is going to feel like the birthday of Through the oven door forum when it goes live.

    Stay tuned for further news.

  5. Thanks to everyone for their patience.

The fact work has interrupted this process didn't help but work is work. :D

Hang in there everyone, we're almost there. :D

  6. Well thanks to the Terrific Trio!

Fancy the real world taking precedence over TTOD;)

  7. PS, I remain fully 'tuned' BB:)

  8. Tee Hee Coby! Unfortunately we need "real" world work so that we can pay for annoying things such as electricity, otherwise we wouldn't be able to continue with the forum etc ROFL!!

I echo Baking Bunny's sentiments. It really has been a team effort. I think we have kept each other sane and motivated. I agree it will be like a birthday party when we finally launch. Definitely something to celebrate!!

  9. Looks good! I am in the learning phase on posting comments, though. What does TTOD mean please?

  10. Through the oven door - the new forum name, Coby just shortened it.

  11. TTOD would mean, "Through the oven door", the name of the new forum. Thanks for all the hard work. It will be great. Happy cooking.

  12. I honestly think there is more friendship and excitement and enthusiasm here than was ever on N.com. I was sick and tired of being corrected too.

  13. Hi 'Cakes'. I often posted a food related item in response to you and would only 'mention' the weather where I am or something else a little bit 'chatty' and the posts would never appear. If I said something like, "Hi Cakes, I made those biscuits yesterday and they were great. It is a beautiful day here in paradise, the sun is shining. Happy cooking. (A post like that sometimes never appeared on the forum and I did receive the odd email to 'correct' me. The WM were always polite and always helpful but at times I did feel that I could not make certain comments that others could. I was a little perplexed by this. But after reading a lot of posts on the new forum, I see that many others had posts blocked. Happy cooking.

  14. SAD but true. Aussieman.Although I was banned from another forum because I praised a young man who was born without arms and legs, but he could swim and play golf! I cant play golf will all my limbs.:-)

The management said I was having a go at some of the members with minor health problems! As if!

Oh well , we are all happy and snug here...I am really happy about this move.

    happy days AM...cakes

PS the sun aint shinin' today!

  15. Well it was a beautiful Spring day here. Sunny warm, not hot, not humid, just perfect. It is enriching to hear the 'voices' of forum participants. I think most of us have been posting long enough to know we can have a safe, appropriate and pleasant wander off topic to add interest to what we are saying. I agree with others that we can self moderate fairly well. I agree that there is certainly an enthusiasm, honesty and free spirited approach in this forum. I am sure it can stay that way. Just had some market bought strawberries and paw paw. Happy cooking.

  17. Hi Danielle.

Ms 'Cakes', that flood situation in Victoria is still looking awful.. I was just watching on the news that the levy around one town may break soon. One long drought followed by one shocking flood. Is there any middle ground for our poor old rural towns?

Is anyone talking about the new book in a truly positive way? Mine should be here next week. I also pre ordered on AmazonUK. Not happy if there are errors that we are not going to be told about. I really admired the fact that on the previous site, Ms Lawson listed the errors to be corrected in each book. Oh well, maybe they will put the corrections on the new site once the 'release' publicity is over. That could be a while. Anyway, what is for dinner? Happy cooking.

  18. Aussieman. yes the water problem has reversed......up to their waists these days......as for your book I am spending my pennies on Jazz records these day. Mutch better for the figure that a cookbook.

for diiner here is chicken schnitzle (sp) sweet potatoe mash and fresg green beans. dat's all
    folks.

As I am now"confused elderly" I put my last post in the wrong place.....forgive me?

  19. Sunny here:) Gorgeous day I must say. Well I remember the forum before the moderation, and all I can say is 'be careful what you wish for'. You'd THINK we could all behave, but the past showed me that what one person thinks is acceptable another doesn't. I didn't mind the moderation (hardly effected me to be honest), and please remember it was the forumers themselves who caused it to become completely focused on food and Nigella. Originally we *could* talk about anything we wanted. I really hope I am proved wrong as I do enjoy the return to the day-to-day natter:)

  20. I hope you are correct as well Coby. I really do hope we can moderate ourselves and keep things appropriate. Happy cooking.

  23. I am really excited!! A BIG thank you goes to our terrific trio, you really are a brilliant bunch and have been working so hard on this new forum. I can't wait!! I'm just about to leave for Aberdeen for the night, see you all when I get back on Friday evening! :-)

  24. Hi everyone. And huge big special thanks to BB, TheMO and CC - you are doing an incredible job.

Cakes - I'm just so glad to see you. Hated the thought of loosing contact.

As for moderation - I think it's simply a matter of respect. But as Coby said - what I may think is appropriate and not at all offensive may be horribly offensive to some other folk. I was told off on numerous occassions on the old forum - for comments that I regarded as perfectly acceptable. I don't suppose it helps that I have a rather off-track sense of humour - but I will try my best to keep it firmly under control.

  25. australianman: Yes, I love the book actually :)

    Many thanks to the trio!

  26. Yaaaaay, well done guys - you're doing a brilliant job. Can't wait to the launch of TTOD xx

  27. Almost there....that's a great feeling! I must say that it did me a world of good not having spent so much time on the net this week. I was able to do some catch up work. But I'm really looking forward to when the forum finally goes live. Thanks everyone for all your efforts :)

  28. LOL JTCW - that's a form of moderation we have to practice on ourselves isn't it? Now I set the timer for my children, should I be doing the same for ME???:P

    ReplyDelete
  29. jtcw wish I could say the same but I have spent more time on the computer than ever before. No surprise there, as we are working so hard to get the new forum ready.

LOL Coby I think we do need to.

    ReplyDelete
  30. i just re-iterate all the kudos to you BB and CC and TMO!!!! Thank you so much.

and yes, i will be mindful about my comments, too!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I echo what BB has said. I think I have been on my computer in the last week more than I have been in my whole entire life lol!! It's good to have focus though and yes, we are nearly there.

I like the idea of a timer for us too!! Especially of a night when the hours tick away and it's 3am (yes I know!) before I realise it.

Our aim from the get-go is to create a site where everyone of all ages is welcome and feels safe. I'm sure we will achieve this.
