Welcome to all food lovers. This site was started in response to the closing of Nigella.com forums and their move onto Facebook. It is a blog for all food lovers, but especially those who enjoy Nigella's food writing, recipes and tv shows. At the moment, it is a temporary blog to see what the future holds for Nigella.com forummers with the closing of its online forum and move to Facebook.

Slight re-design to this blog
I hope the design and colour change on this blog has not confused you too much. I had a request to tone it down a bit as it was a bit too much for some participants. No big deal to me. This blog is a place for us to discuss our future as forummers. Please continue to use it exactly as before.

It's pretty. :) We'll liven it up with our words!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the notice. All good to me. Glad you are still here. Happy cooking.
ReplyDeleteHi - quick question I hope someone can help me with. I changed my profile name to Mandy_C, but when I post I'm still showing up as acumberland. Any ideas on how I change this?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Mandy_C
OK - now I am really confused. I posted earlier this morning, and I cam up as acumberland. now, I'm coming up as Mandy. How do I get it to display Mandy_C????
ReplyDeleteSorry for the technological ineptitude!
This post shows you as Mandy. Or did I misunderstand your question. My brain is a bit fried at the moment ;)
ReplyDeleteYou should be able to change it in your profile.
ReplyDeleteMandy - Maybe play around a bit with your profile name? It's a bit of trial and error sometimes!
ReplyDeleteBaking Bunny - The new design is much better :-) More easy on the eye! The other background was a bit busy and colourful.
ReplyDeletehi everyone, how are you all getting a pic (avatar?) up? this is all new to me too!
ReplyDeleteSorry I think the last background just reflected a bit too much of my sunny disposition ;) I was happy to change it though as it now does not detract from the important part - our communications here.
ReplyDeletemz_frecklez, you should be able to add a profile pic when you go in and edit your profile.
ReplyDeleteI think the new background looks great bb :-)
ReplyDeleteSeona if you want to change your blogger blog design, go into the advanced features in template designer, so many background options to choose from and colour selections. Oh dear, now I think I have been doing too much blogging, I am starting to know too much stuff, LOL. And once upon a time, back in 1993 at university I had no idea and actually had an electric typewriter.
ReplyDeleteSeona - I'm having a fit of uselessness. Where, oh where is the edit user profile button? Sorry to clog up this thread.
ReplyDeleteMandy, when I hover over your picture in the followers section it comes up as Mandy_C. I have noticed though with your posts it still just says Mandy. Have you had any success after you've changed your name?
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add that I like the colors of this blog. It feels calming, familiar and homely to me. If that makes sense? Would we like similar coloring for our new forum? Something to think about.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking something on the same lines. This basic idea but perhaps change the accent color every ones in a while and choose a undisturbing (as in not affecting the 'rumming) picture to stick somewhere, e.g. according to seasons.
ReplyDeleteI like the design too BB, its easy on the eye and easy to read.
ReplyDeleteJust to let you guys know i have now registered with jamie Olivers forum to give that a go!!
have any of you guys uses it and if so whats good and whats bad!!
Tea
This design is easier on the eye :) I would prefer that the forum was divided into sections too BB, as it is a bit more tidy than the 'late nigella food forum' and that way you know where to look if you have something in mind.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Coby saying that the new Nigella.com is probably easier for Nigella and co. They wont have to have someone constantly moderating also.
As it is.. we are just fans. Loyalty counts for nothing really. Always someone to take your place, to be a bit dramatic ;)
Tea: let us know how JO's forum is.
I have now pre-ordered Kitchen, but as I see somebody has now got it from tesco I am tempted to have a look tomorrow. Nothing wrong with two copies, is there???
It looks great. You are putting a huge amount of work into this. If I can help in any way just ask. I didn't post much on N.Com I hated the oh so strict moderation a lot of my posts were never published and the time lapse annoyed me intensely. I was on the old one before it closed and I was much angered then as you are all now. Another forum was created and we are still going.
ReplyDeleteGood luck. I would love to be a member of your new forum if you will have me.
Thanks for everyone's help. By the way, this has inspired me to finally start my own blog. I'm at http://mandyskitchenphilosophy.blogspot.com/ if anyone wants to follow me.
ReplyDeleteBB, the new design is definitely much easier on the eye.
ReplyDeleteHey BB thanks this is great, not that the orange was bad in fact it was nice with great intricate design but did not do justice to what the blog is intended to this is so much easier i love it!
ReplyDeleteYou are great hard working girl.
Looks great...I am so appreciative of all your hard work with this project :)
ReplyDeleteI liked the 'old' look (lol considering it wasn't around for long) and I like the 'new' look too:) As long as the words are easy to read I'm happy:D
ReplyDeleteNever had a problem with the old site at all, I recon I understand why it was closed, though I will miss it....perhaps not as much as I would have if we weren't building our own forum. LOL 'we', well BB, you know I mean very gratefully YOU;) And your dear TMO especially!
All I want in a FOODIE forum is no narkiness really - oh and no offensive language. Seen it other places, and I just wont hang out - life is too short, and there are many more important real issues than that which goes on in the cyber world!
I LOVED that most of the posts on n.com were clear and easy to understand. I learnt the basic 'lol' and 'iykwim' but really don't want to read a lot of txt speak. As most of us seem to prefer less moderation though, I'll see how I go, we oldies have to move with the times:P
Lovely to hear you all. Good to see it being successful. Happy cooking.
ReplyDeleteCoby I am hoping your worries will be unfounded with the group of moderators behind the scenes keeping an eye on things. We will be able to remove posts as well as ban people. We would hope the current group of rummers will behave themselves though and it will be just newbies that may keep us busy.
ReplyDeleteas long as people do not start talking of marriage problems and their recent surgery!!Been there, seen that!
ReplyDeleteI am NOT anonymous
cakes
My hip is playing up. Just joking. Happy cooking.
ReplyDeleteCakes, any off-topic posts that are annoying people should be reported to the moderators. We don't want it to turn into that type of forum either.
ReplyDeleteI think we will need to bear in mind though that it is clear from the new Facebook page that people will expect more freedom than they had on the old forum: while I am not condoning unnecessary bad language, it will probably be (speaking to Coby, for instance) that the site will contain material and expressions not suited to small children, unlike the artificially sanitised "Stepford Wives" atmosphere of N.com. It has become clear (shock !! horror !!) that we do not spend all our time in pretty aprons, turning out trays of immaculate cupcakes...
