An alternative forum to use

Seona from the Nigella forums gave me this link to an alternative Nigella forum.

http://nigella.proboards.com/index.cgi

I have just registered as BakingBunny but am waiting for it to be approved so I can't yet give you my thoughts on this alternative forum but I hope it is good.

  1. I'm still looking forward to Nigella's new look site, and hoping it's great. I am not, however very good at, or eager to use FB, so would certainly favour something akin to what we had if things don't pan out! I appreciate the fact though that so many people are eager to set up something for us lost lambs to congregate at:) Thanks to you Jutta and everyone who's trying to keep us together:)

  2. That is my one wish, that we can all stay together and continue our food talk. I would really miss cookalong and the bookclub now that I have got involved.

  3. Well I haven't even had a chance yet to become involved in the bookclub through 'real world' distractions, but I SO want to! I'd prefer not to join an existing group, not to exclude new people, but to not be just another 'new girl' if that makes sense? In any case, I am first and foremost a Nigella girl - no offense to JO and Delia at all. Feel free to include our blog if you want:

    For Nigella Friend's Blogs...

Oh, and it is me that suggested 'moderated'. I realise this is unrealistic, but it is my ideal preference so I voted that way:) Hope that makes sense?:)

  4. Thanks Coby that is the honesty I wanted. It is all about the ideal and then we can work from what most people want (if it comes to that). I will add your blog now, I had not forgotten but have been busy going back and forth between Nigella.com, FB, my email and here. This has taken over my day, but it is only the housework suffering.

  5. No worries BB:) To explain my reasoning, it's simply because it would be lovely for my daughter to have 'her' online community again too. I wont allow her on an unmoderated site. To be clear, I really don't expect others to want any more than a 'report' option, and I 'get' why:) Still, it was my vote to do as I wanted right?:)

I note that you menting this could be temp, and I just thank you for this - a place to regroup and decide what we'd like to do:) I'm STILL going to cross my fingers that things wont be so frightening tomorrow back at n.com though!:D

Thanks for all you're doing - the housework? LOL Mine's suffering too, but it's not going anywhere, worst luck;)

  6. If I can help in any way (keeping in mind my lack of computer skills) I am happy to help too:)

  7. Coby, I am about make a post about possibly starting our own forum so stay tuned. We have the technology and people that can do it! Please have a think about how we could fully moderate the forum though. I believe we would need lots of volunteers from our Nigella forummers community to help out, and if the help is there it is a possibility, or instead of full moderation, possibly a group of people checking posts to make sure they are suitable. Anyway let me know your thoughts on the next post I put up regarding this.

  9. I love the idea of a period of temporary moderation for newbies:) Most of our current members I feel are unlikely to cause trouble, but to have the caution in place of being moderated if we step out of line is a great idea. That would help prevent too much work I should think:) Looking forward to other input:)

  11. I think we are all very confused by the Nigella.com upheaval but we will find a new home even if we have to build it ourselves ;) Please do comment on any posts with suggestions.

  12. saw the proboards and the moment i saw it i immediately X it... too complicated for me! too many sub forums and if i wanna ask a question or what i'll have to really spend time and read and see where to post. it's like calling a company to have those voice records telling you to press the number for whatever options you are looking for. not exactly enjoyable. still prefer to have one section and everyone just post what they want.

  13. Do you think we can find "Ms Cakes" and link her into here? What do you think Coby? It would be sad to lose Ms Cakes. Happy cooking.
